Relaxing In St. Lucia - Part V Honeymoon

For day 5 we took it easy and relaxed at the pools and beach, and also did some of the events and activities they have at the resort and took advantage of the free water sports.   Every activity you participate in, you get points for your room. If you get 200 points by the end of your stay, you get a special prize that you cannot buy on the island.  Now, I won't tell you if we got there or not because I'll let you keep reading about our vacation.

Day 6, we went out to the local market to go shopping for souvenirs! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures inside the market because we only had a certain amount of time before our driver left to bring us somewhere else, but it was pretty cool.

A Few Days In Iphone Photos

Neighbors invited me over for a get-together on Sunday. So much food; pork chops, steak, ribs, brats, hotdogs, sausages, baked beans, and corn. It was good!

I miss Matt but thankfully, he will be home in just 5 short days! My birthday is the day after he gets home and frankly, I haven't even really thought much of it because I'm counting down the days until Matt gets back so we can spend time together. Secretly, I do hope he surprises me when I pick him up with something though.. hehe, doesn't every wife?
Today, I did get that warm feeling inside when I saw on his facebook he updated his status to this:  Lady.... when im with you im smiling... Give me all all all of your love... Soon i will be home, 5 days to go.

Catching up

So I mentioned in my last post that I would update throughout the weekend, but I didn't really find much time to do a full post, but I did update each day on that same post by checking off if we did what we had plans for. That has to count for something, right?

Friday (the day Matt got off work), we just had a normal lazy day around the house. We ate pizza, I watched t.v., he played his video games.

Saturday, we were supposed to go rock climbing, but the day wasn't working out for us. We turned the car around and came home. I played around on the computer, watched t.v., took a walk, and he played his video games. Later that evening, he had his FIRST guys night and went out with some of his guy friends to the casino, while I stayed home. One of the guy's wife came over and we kept each other company. This was a first for the both of us because our guys never had guys night and we never had a girls night before, so we definitely weren't use to that feeling. Next thing I know, Matt sent me a text with him holding cash of $2500. Early in the morning or late in the night..however you want to put it, our guys finally came home.

Sunday, Matt and I didn't end up going to Soak City. It was a late start on getting up in the morning. Instead, we hung out around the house. I cleaned up and picked up a little bit, Matt played some video games, I watched some t.v. and played a game. Our NEW neighbors had invited us over to hang out with them since they were having a get-together, but we had declined because we already made plans to go out to dinner and then go shopping for a new camera, a DSLR to be exact!

New DSLR Nikon3000 camera with accessories we purchased to go with it. And today we just realized that buying a DSLR was on our list that we made back in February; which, you can view here. 

Monday, We went to the beach bash on base around 12ish and stayed until 4:30 P.M.  It was really hot outside and so many people. We got in the water for a little while and laid out for some, walked around, and then called it a day to go back home so we could shower and eat. Later on when it got closer to the fireworks, Matt and I, along with 2 of our friends came with us to go see the fireworks and hung out.  The fireworks were lame. It was kind of a disappointment. I was expecting better, but maybe next year Matt and I will find a different place. Once we left the beach, we came home to have a bonfire with a few friends.

Tuesday, Matt and I got another late start (oops for having the phone on silent and missing alarms!) Matt and I, along with 2 friends (again) went to a water park called Soak City. We were there for about 4 hours or so. It definitely was enough time to try everything at that water park. It was nothing that we were expecting. Matt and I agree that wet n wild is way better and Disney's water parks are better too. We did have a good time and it was enjoyable, but would we ever go there again or recommend it to anyone? No, probably not. But you never know until you actually experience it yourself; and so we did.

Now, today, Matt is back at work and I am going to get this house back in order for taking the weekend off. Overall, our weekend started out rough but turned out great. I am happy I was able to spend Fourth of July (my favorite holiday) with my husband for the first time in 4 years.
I am a little disappointed that I didn't take many photos, but I still will have those memories in my head and that's the important thing, right?

There's An App For That

Yes, I am talking about the iPhone. Matt and I were eligible for upgrades on June 9th. Well, I technically was back in April but I decided to wait. I told myself if I passed the state exam; which, I did and you can read about it here, that I will finally get my phone upgraded to an iPhone. So, yesterday evening Matt and I went to the At&t store to get iPhones. We were looking at getting a refurbished one since it's way cheaper but they don't carry any at the store and so we calculated it out and it would have been the same price to get the brand new iPhone 3 at the store. (Online it's 19.99 but then you only are under a 90 day warranty so you would most likely want to buy an additional warranty and then the sales tax is on the full value of the phone which I NEVER knew before!) I was really looking at the iPhone 4 in the beginning since it was $99 but the only difference is:
1.) facetime that I will hardly ever use
2.) 2 more megapixels
3.) a little bit faster processing system
4.) the width is slightly different.
5.) HD recording which would probably be hardly used as well

And once we learned that we would have to pay sales tax for the full value that iPhone 4 for $99 would be more like $150. And the iPhone 3 from $49 would be $99 so without hesitation we got the iPhone 3.

We are officially in with the times by having a smartphone! Although, some might think we are behind since we don't have the iPhone 4 and especially whenever that iPhone 5 is out in the market we will be 2 generations behind.. oh no! what will ever happen! (sarcasm much?) We are definitely in love with our phones though. It was a great purchase. We played around with them, added apps, and just text each other because we can do that. After we got our phones and our phone cases (which seemed to take about 2 or so hours in the store)

we went out to dinner to celebrate since Matt never got to do that with me yet. We went out to eat at Outback and had a great dinner. I cannot remember the last time that we went out to eat at a restaurant. We don't go out often since I mainly cook most of the nights. Plus, eating out frequently can rack up some money!

See You In Two Months!

Well, Matt left the other day, Tuesday morning to be exact. It's always tough saying goodbye regardless the amount of days, weeks, or months. But I am looking at the positives of this DET (detachment) because if I think negative, then that will only drag out these 2 months. So on with the positives:
--Per Diem allowance
--3.5 - 4 hours away depending on traffic and speed
--It's not a deployment, therefore we have phone & internet
--I may be able to go out for a visit before I start school
--I will be in school 5 days a week, so the weeks should go by fairly quickly

If that doesn't pep me up, then I always have this picture to look at that Matt made for me on the computer when he said he "wanted to test out the printer quality":

With that being said, we bought a new printer! Our other printer quit working on us about 2 months ago and with me starting up school soon, we felt it was necessary to buy one before he left. We decided on the Canon PIXMA - MG5520 All-In-One Wireless Printer. It was originally $149 but on sale for $99. It has good reviews and the replacement ink cartridges aren't priced too high either; cheaper than the other brands we saw.

Afterwards, we went to have dinner at Pizza Port. This place has THE best pizza EVER. I am not even kidding when I enunciate on THE and EVER. It's a really cool set up inside (which I'll remember next time we are there to take a picture of). You order yourself, you seat yourself, and you wait until your name is called for. They actually make their own beer; which, is pretty delicious. Matt tried the Carlsbad Chronic - it's an amber ale type of beer. I had the California Honey that is a lighter type of beer with real honey that they get locally. I can taste it now..

Everything on there is fresh. It's awesome. It's a bit pricey than a pizza you would find at papa john's or domino's, but it's well worth the price. Ours had cheese, sausage, jalapenos, and fresh basil. 

On the way out, we saw this and I had to get a picture of it. I forgot my camera at home, so the full thing couldn't fit on my phone camera, but there was 1 more row after that car seat.

Shopping Spree

Over the weekend Matt and I went to the mall. We got him a new pair of dress shoes, then the rest was all me. We are trying to re-do my wardrobe because I dress like a "high school-er" as Matt would like to say. When he first said that to me I was trying to defend myself. But c'mon, I do! I really don't have adult-like-clothing, if that makes any sense? So I'm trying to get more into Express and New York & Company, etc.. Matt buys all his clothing at Express, so I have been in that store before but never did I EVER look in the women's section.... until Saturday. I really adore the clothing at Express. It fits great, looks even better and the best part about it all? I actually feel like I'm my age. So, we walked out with a purchase. Also, thank you to my wonderful parents - I had a gift card to American Eagle, so I bought a cute blouse and khaki shorts (they don't look high school-er either!) If I didn't have a gift card, I don't think Matt would have allowed me to shop in that store anymore Ha Ha.

Since he got a new pair of black dress shoes, we said goodbye to his other old dress shoes as we I tossed them in the trash. I got some adorable slip on shoes. I just need to walk around in them more because it was rubbing the back of my heel the wrong way.

Sunday morning, we went to get Matt's haircut. We were feeling pretty hungry for breakfast, so we came across a place that was down the street, called "The Breakfast Club Diner." I was skeptical of the place because it looked pretty quiet and not busy from the outside, (plus, it had one of those blinking open sign lights) but we decided to give it a try.  Once we walked in, it was actually really busy. Almost every table was taken. We had fast, good service - plus our food came out pretty quick and it definitely looked appetizing.

I got the French Toast Combo which included 4 french toast, 2 large eggs, 2 sausage links and some fruit on the side. 

Matt got the Omelet Combo which included 4 eggs in the omelet, a whole bunch of stuff inside, hash browns, toast, and some fruit on the side.

Not only were the prices good, but it was tasty too. So our lesson of the weekend was: You never know how good a place can be until you give it a try... basically, don't judge a restaurant or diner by it's outer appearance.
