DIY Spray Painted Monogrammed Doormat & Wicker Balls

Yesterday I spruced up some home decor that I purchased so it could go better with our home.

I bought these balls and bowl set together for $4 at a thrift store. Normally the wicker balls (6 in a set) range from $7 - $13 and the bowl could cost anywhere from $8- $10.   I already had the spray paint on hand from a previous project.

I don't have a before picture (I forgot) but the wicker balls were 2 different shades of green.

The other project I did was spray paint a doormat I purchased for $4.99 to add more of a "home" touch rather than a plain doormat outside. It was really simple to do so I didn't take pictures step by step.

Decide what you would like on your doormat. Cut out stencils either by hand or if you have a cricut machine; which, is what I have and used, pick the image and size. I laid the stencil on the doormat and taped it down. I made sure to cover what was not being sprayed because I didn't want to overspray areas. Then let it dry!

I already had the spray paint at home so this project was $4.99

Beautiful Glass Photo Block

For Christmas, I decided to make a personalized gift to my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law from Matt and I.

It really didn't take that long to put it all together. The hardest part about this project was finding everything for it! But at the end, I was very very pleased with how it turned out.. I actually wanted it for myself, haha! So, I will be making another one here in the soon future for Matt and I to have around our house.

'Tis The Season To Craft..

I have no idea where all my crafty spirit came from these past couple days, but all I want to do is make new things even if it's just a small project. Here are two crafts that I put together last night.

 I made this for Matt and had it waiting on the counter for when he came home from work.

Fourth of July Wreath

Well, I finished yet another craft project that I've been wanting to do for some time now. I have always wanted to make a wreath but never got the courage to do so, and possibly the time. But, just the other day I managed to finish a wreath just in time for the hubby to come back home and the celebration of Fourth of July. This idea is not my original idea, I got the idea from online.

So, here is how I made this wreath… P.S: It does tend to be tedious work.

What you will need:
4 blue felt
3 red felt
3 white felt
1 white foam
1 styrofoam wreath (make sure it's the round hard one and not the sqaure/round one… otherwise you probably have to do this project twice ;) Lol if you catch my drift… learn from the person who made the mistake.)
push pins (300 count)
ribbon
hot glue/glue gun

I got all my supplies at Joann's but Michael's or any other craft store should have all you are looking for as well.
In addition, the felt make give or take depending on how close or far apart you put your pieces.

To start off, cut your felt into 2x2 squares. It doesn't have to be down to precise science, but as long as they're roughly the same size than it will be okay. A trick I did was after I cut my first 2x2 square, I would move it up right above and then trace it out with my scissors and kept repeating that over and over that way I wouldn't have to remeasure the length.

 Then fold it to the other corner

And finally put a push pin in

 To start out, put all the corners together like I have shown before. But once you get going, you can just put them in a row.

 Now that you have started with the four corners, you can start to place one of the pieces right behind the one already pinned into the wreath. Make sure it's not too far apart otherwise it won't look full and leave a gap, but you don't want it too close either because then it will get too bunched up.

See, I started to line it up rather than start another 4 piece square. You will continue doing this all the way around with your colors. You can either do 2 red, 3 white like I chose or you can do 4 white, 3 red  and make them smaller groups.. it's totally up to you to make your own. Just make sure the blue one is the largest of them.
Also, when you are pinning make sure you pin on the inside of the wreath and on the outer side of the wreath that way it is not shown. It really isn't necessary to pin the backside since that won't be shown and it can lay flush against the door, but if you are feeling up to it - then go right ahead.

After you're finished pinning, go ahead and cut out your stars, you can make these as small or big and as many as you like. Hot glue them onto the blue felt and then you're ready to attach your ribbon on the backside to be hung.  I like my ribbon shorter so it's not hanging too low but you can do however you please.

This project probably took me about 3 hours or so in one sitting (I don't think I recommend this Lol)

Valentine Crafts Overload

Okay, so this blog is going to have quite a lot of pictures just because I had a lot of Valentine ideas to send to Matt.. Even though Valentine's Day is over with, I still thought I would share so you can possibly make these for next year.

Well, this is an easy gift idea if you're planning to give to a lot of people. I bought some Valentine bags and ribbon, then filled each bag with a different candy (conversation hearts, candy corn, jelly hearts, lollipops, m&m's, and peanut butter m&m's) Then I labeled each bag so it's easy to identify what to grab.

I found these little containers at the dollar store and thought they were so adorable. So I filled these two up to put them in Matt's package for himself.

Small gift box/bags make perfect Valentine's gift to put candy in or a sweet little gift. 

  I made some homemade rice krispie treats and then used a cookie cutter to shape them into hearts. I wrapped each of them up individually and then tied it with some ribbon.

 Using my cricut machine, I cut out some hearts and leaves and then I glued the lollipops onto the hearts and taped the leaves on the stick to act as if it were a flower.

Adding to the cuteness, I put a little note saying "you make my heart blossom"

 I cut out some butterflies and then poked a hole in the middle then placed a blow-pop in the hole.

 I cut out some large flowers, cut a hole in the middle then stuck a tootsie pop in the hole.

I put them all into a container so they would keep together and wrote "open your heart to love"

I made peanut butter blossoms and instead of using hershey kisses, I used dove heart chocolates. 

 Trace your hands then cut it out and write on the front "I love you.." and then with a long 1" piece of paper fold it into a bi-fold and write "I love you this much" and then glue it to each side of the hands.  I wrote in the inside "I love you this much x10"

 Take a deck of cards and then hole punch 2 hole and tie it together with ribbon or use ring clips.
Then write out 52 different things you love about your significant other, cut and paste onto the cards.

Anniversary Package

Since last Tuesday I have been busy every single day. Whether it's an appointment, school work, finishing up Matt's care package or going to work! Working 12-13 hour days only allows so much in between time to work on anything before having to go to bed and work another 12 hour. But, I cannot complain because I am working now :) I cannot believe it took me so long to get back into a career, although I don't regret waiting to get a job because I have been able to enjoy the time with my hubby when he's not deployed or training.

Anyways, I thought I would post a few items that I made and sent Matt for his anniversary care package now that he finally received it a few days ago and that I made time to finish writing this since it's been in my drafts for the past 4 days haha.

 So one of the crafts I did was embroider this pillowcase for him. It's a boy and a girl long distance sending love letters in a bottle across the ocean between them.

3rd year anniversary is the year for leather as modern or glass for traditional but since he's deployed I figured leather was the easiest route so it wouldn't be ruined. I made him a picture frame with one of our wedding photos inside.
